Aaliyah commenced her articles of clerkship at TWB in January 2021 until completion in January 2023. She is an Associate in our corporate and commercial law department where she works with Lawrence Sacke.
Throughout her time at TWB, she has gained experience and assisted in major mergers and acquisitions, due diligence investigations, B-BBEE transaction advisory, competition applications, corporate commercial law, commercial and civil litigation (Magistrates and High Court), risk analysis, dispute resolution, sports law and she has experience in the field of banking, finance and taxation.
Her experience includes a secondment to the Market Access division of Imperial Logistics Proprietary Limited, where she provided legal support and enhanced business teams from a legal law firm perspective. The secondment consisted of providing legal advice, negotiating commercial agreements ensuring legal and corporate compliance.
Aaliyah is an International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ) Alumni Mentee; she previously worked under and was mentored by Judge Fayeeza Kathree-Setiloane. The IAWJ is a highly respected organisation that promotes and empowers women to help uproot gender bias and promote human rights for all.
Aaliyah is also a member of the Young Arbitration Foundation of South Africa. The organisation was founded to promote knowledge sharing, skill/s-building and networking within the field of arbitration.
Aaliyah’s areas of expertise include Commercial Litigation, Corporate Commercial and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Aaliyah has a keen interest in Shariah compliant legal practice.
