Oshy Tugendhaft boasts an impressive career spanning 50 years in corporate and commercial law, with a particular focus on commercial, corporate and exchange control law. His extensive expertise in company law has established him as a pivotal figure in major corporate transactions, encompassing high-profile mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, JSE listings and B-BBEE initiatives. Beyond his commercial transactional experience, Oshy has demonstrated exceptional skill in commercial litigation and arbitrations, reinforcing his versatility and commanding presence in the legal arena.

A respected thought leader, Oshy has made notable contributions to legal scholarship. He served as co-editor of the Exchange Control Encyclopaedia (Spitz – TWB), published by Butterworths and co-authored a respected South African publication by Butterworths, offering lease precedents that remain an informative tool for legal practitioners.

Oshy’s leadership extends far beyond legal practice into the corporate realm. He currently holds the position of Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of Motus Holdings, a prominent listed industrial company, following distinguished tenures as Deputy Chairman of Imperial Holdings and Chairman of Alviva Holdings – both entities successfully delisted from the JSE after significant takeovers. Additionally, his role as trustee of several trusts highlights his trusted stewardship in high-level financial and legal governance.
